2020 Virtual Conference Agenda

speaker highlights

opening keynote: david hopkins

David Hopkins is a recognized leader, facilitator and speaker in the areas of leadership development, sales and marketing, culture and customer experience.

He grew up in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and relocated to Florida as a young adult, beginning his career at the happiest place on earth, Walt Disney World. After spending many hours singing and dancing with his favorite characters, he decided to stop “Goofing” around and worked his way into management, gaining experience in both resort and theme park operations. David then decided to use his leadership expertise to assist healthcare organizations, rising to executive roles supporting areas such as acute care hospital operations, clinical education, large physician practices and assisted living communities.

Known for growth-creating culture change and increasing sales even during challenging times, David is recognized among his peers for developing customized, engaging programs that lead to success. He enjoys weaving his own personal stories and experiences into his presentations making even the most complex of ideas seem simple.

Disaster keynote: Craig Fugate

Craig Fugate is internationally known for his signature lecture exploring the Seven Deadly Sins of Emergency Management.

W. Craig Fugate served as President Barack Obama’s FEMA Administrator from May 2009 to January 2017.  Previously, he served as Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s Emergency Management Director from 2001-2007 and Governor Charlie Crist from 2007-09.  Fugate led FEMA through multiple record-breaking disaster years and oversaw the Federal Government’s response to major events such as the Joplin and Moore Tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Matthew, and the 2016 Louisiana flooding.  Fugate set a clear and compelling vision, mission, and priorities for FEMA and relentlessly drove the Agency to achieve better outcomes for survivors.  FEMA’s effectiveness in dealing with more than 500 Presidentially-declared major disasters and emergencies under Fugate’s leadership restored the faith of the American people in the Federal Government’s ability to respond to disasters.  Prior to his tenure at FEMA, Fugate was widely praised for his management, under Governor Jeb Bush, of the devastating effects of the 2004 and 2005 Florida hurricane seasons (Charley, Frances, Ivan, Jeanne, Dennis, Katrina, and Wilma). Craig currently provides senior level advice and consultation is the area of disaster management and resiliency policy through Craig Fugate Consulting LLC.  Craig also serves as the Chief Emergency Management Officer at One Concern.

closing speaker: Alison Levine

Alison Levine knows what it’s like to survive (and thrive) in the world’s toughest environments. She served as team captain of the first American Women’s Everest Expedition, scaled the “Seven Summits,” and skied to the North and South Poles—making history along the way.

In addition to climbing mountains, she also spent time climbing the corporate ladder in sales, in marketing and then on Wall Street after earning her MBA from Duke University. In her New York Times bestseller, On the Edge: Leadership Lessons from Everest and Other Extreme Environments, Alison asserts that the principles that apply to the world of extreme adventure also apply to demanding business environments. A former adjunct professor at West Point, Alison understands what it takes to lead teams through challenging situations. She is the recipient of the 2019 Ellis Island Medal of Honor which recognizes individuals whose accomplishments in their field and inspired service to our nation are cause for celebration. The Medal has been officially recognized by both Houses of Congress as one of our nation’s most prestigious awards and is annually memorialized in the Congressional Record.
